2008:

31 October - Halloween
Share in the folktales and stories of All Hallows' Eve, or the Celtic fire festival of Samhain, where traditionally fires were burnt to purify crops, land and livestock in the community from all evil. Grampian Association of Storytellers hosts a storytelling session at Archaeolink Prehistory Park, Oyne nr Insch on the evening of Halloween open to all ages (children to be accompanied by an adult) in the Archaeolink Theatre. Refreshments will be available. Entry fee £3.00 (donation). This is oral history at its most exciting - the stories of the ancient folk who inhabited Scotland from the Iron Age and beyond, and in this setting it's ideal. (Archaeolink's Wickerman festival is on Sunday 26th October - don't miss that either!)

Justin Moves to Pastures New
Our secretary, Justin Parkes has resigned as he has now left his post at Robert Gordon University as Historic Collections Curator, to take up the position of Industrial History Curator with North Lanarkshire Council! We wish Justin all the best with his new job, and hope he'll spread the oral history gospel in the local area.

So we are in need of a secretary! If you're interested, email the usual address - info@arohascotland.org. Currently AROHA is not holding any specific events, but it would be nice to have someone take up the post which involves co-ordinating events, inviting speakers, and liaising with the rest of the committee on matters such as advertising and finance.
